This new Jenkins & Hustwit website is the home of the very best in good old-fashioned farmhouse baking of the highest quality cakes and puddings. Amongst the specialities are rich fruit cakes, Christmas cakes, celebration cakes, Xmas puddings, and gluten-free cakes and puddings.

The business was established almost two decades ago in the County Durham farmhouse kitchens of Ann Hustwit and Hilary Jenkins, who are both farmers' wives. They had begun by baking cakes to trusted family recipes in their own County Durham farmhouse kitchens.

Using these traditional recipes, their knowledge and skills as home economists, plus an underlying awareness of modern dietary needs and healthy eating, the business produces an excellent selection of superb, highest quality hand-crafted speciality cakes, fruit cakes, Christmas Cakes, Christmas Puddings and other products for its many discerning customers.

The company supplies many delicatessens, independent retailers, farm shops, and 'Buy Local' initiatives from the north of Scotland to the south coast of England... plus the general public.... and their products have even been found in many prestigious company hampers!

It all began almost 20 years ago when Ann and Hilary found themselves working until midnight to fulfil the orders which came in as their reputations grew. They lived near the village of Butterknowle between Teesdale, Weardale and the Wear Valley, and later, Ann and her family moved near to Sedgefield in the heart of green and rural County Durham.

Hilary and Ann decided that they had to find premises which would be suitable to turn into a bespoke kitchen to accommodate their increasing orders. This is now located in a purpose designed kitchen in the historic market town of Bishop Auckland in Weardale and the Durham Dales in majestic Northumbria in North East England. It has enabled the company to be more accessible for deliveries and collections which are now finding their way into many parts of the country.

Through selling their products in food halls at major shows in the country, they have reached nation-wide awareness which has resulted in distribution throughout the United Kingdom.

Today the company is led by founder Ann Hustwit who, with a dedicated team of enthusiastic staff, use their expertise to assist in the production of these delicious authentic cakes and puddings.
